Risk Management Business Data Analyst Sr - Hybrid

The Risk Management Business Data Analyst Sr. uses the data analysis process to understand, interpret and direct patterns in business, and then use those data-driven insights to enhance their risk management practices. Provides management and analysis of business data for use in decision making and organizational risk mitigation initiatives. Creates reports/dashboards to monitor risk exposure and develops methodologies for the assessment of risks throughout the organization. Prepares reporting to risk committees, coordinates testing/validation of mitigation responses and supports the overall development of the ERM framework.

• Aggregates and performs statistical analysis on business data based on needs for regular reporting and requests from project teams or senior leadership to support risk management decisions.
• Integrates data from multiple data sources or functional areas, ensures data accuracy and integrity, and updates data as needed.       
• Writes queries or reports to provide data for various analytical projects.             
• Conducts risk analysis throughout the organization to ensure risk data is captured, risk mitigation strategies and controls are developed, and appropriate reporting mechanisms are in place for each business unit.          
• Interprets data to identify business risk trends, conducts root cause analysis of business problems leading to risk exposure, or suggests areas for risk mitigation.              
• Develops risk reporting/communication material based on audience; educates the board of directors about the most significant risks to the business, ensures business leaders understand the risks that may affect their departments, and ensures individuals understand their own accountability for individual risks.  
• Analyzes the financial impact of risks and assists in establishing the company’s risk tolerance level.  
• Develops key risk indicators (KRIs), methodology and reporting using data collected from the GRC tool or other data sources such as in-house reporting and external data providers.
• Enhances the risk management software systems (Governance/Risk/Compliance or “GRC”) to evaluate risk; identifies potential risk issues and recommends changes to management in support of organizational goals and objectives.
• May provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring within the team. May act as lead or first-level supervisor.
• Work within their team and have a direct impact on themselves and their direct processes.

Education

• Min/Preferred: Minimum
• Education Level: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree
• Description: Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university preferred.

Experience

• Minimum Years of Experience: 6
• Preferred Years of Experience:8
• Comments:
• 6-8 years of data analysis experience in the banking/credit union industry
• 4+ years of previous experience in Risk Manage and/or Finance required

• Self-motivated, flexible, and able to work in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to handle multiple jobs and tasks assigned.            
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, be personable and able to communicate with personnel on a variety of levels within the company.             
• Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality and hold company information in confidence.    
• Performs work with a high degree of latitude. Handles the most complex issues. Possesses expert knowledge of subject matter.    
• Prior accounting, auditing, or project management experience is preferred.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge, intermediate SQL knowledge.    
• Use existing tools/processes to solve tasks/issues assigned to them.
