Overview

The Financial Services Officer I (or II) is a developmental role responsible for onboarding new and deepening existing member relationships by identifying their financial needs and guiding them in selecting suitable financial products. This includes acting as an advisor to identify additional cross sell opportunities and referrals to business partners. This role is vital to continuously build and sustain new business opportunities, support Logix initiatives to serve members, work with branch management to expand market share, and maintain a high degree of quality in their work with minimal supervision to execute directives as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivates strong member relationships by providing exceptional service to both new and existing members while educating and helping them identify their financial needs, opening and maintaining new/existing accounts, and recommending suitable financial products that help them achieve their financial goals.
  • Supports profitable branch growth by selling consumer loans, consumer loan insurance products, and real estate mortgage loans.               
  • Utilizes credit scoring, sound lending practices, regulatory requirements, and prudent judgment to make lending decisions that benefit members. Clearly explains the reasons for loan denials and helps explore alternative options.              
  • Executes strategies outlined by the Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor certification program and offers guidance and support to members and prospective members on budget counseling, debt consolidations, pay methods and other financial matters tailored to their needs.  
  • Works with Branch Management to seek opportunities to generate business and develop centers of influence through various measures including working with Logix business partners, outside sources, participation in marketing campaigns, regular outbound efforts and member awareness seminars.  
  • Executes the daily operations of the Credit Union's Member Experience protocols according to established standards.
  • Directly responds to member’s inquiries either in person, via telephone, text, mail or an internal referral in a timely manner.
  • Supports Branch Management in promoting products and services to their existing market area for sign up events, benefit fairs and other seminars/webinars.     
  • Maintains cash drawer while adhering to assigned limits and policies. Processes member transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, and requests for information efficiently, accurately, and promptly.     
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and Credit Union policies related to specific products and services, including but not limited to the Truth in Savings Act, Bank Secrecy Act, and Fair Lending Practices               
  • Participates in all assigned staff development programs in support of the Credit Union's commitment to continuous improvement in sales and service, quality, and teamwork and may be required to participate in the training and development of other staff members.
  • Must be adaptable and available to work at any branch location as needed, based on business requirements               
  • Eligible for a transfer after assignment is subject to Senior Management approval.    
  • Must reliably arrive to work on time, according to the scheduled hours.

Qualifications

Education

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree (4 years) with business related emphasis a plus.

 

 

Experience

 

  • Minimum of 1 year experience, 3 years preferred of financial service officer and/or loan officer experience in a financial institution.
 
 
Knowledge, Skills & Ability
 

The FSO must:

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Have a thorough working knowledge of depository & loan products, services, insurance of accounts, account vesting, consumer & mortgage lending principles & practices
  • Has the ability to multi-task working in multiple systems simultaneously
  • Knowledge of credit union documents, reports, policies and procedures a plus.
  • Successful completion of training and obtain the following licenses, skills and authorities within 6 months of entering the position: New Accounts, Consumer Loan & RE Loan Officer training program and obtain RE Loan Officer designation, Notary License, Membership Officer Authority, and Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor (CCUFC)
  • Have a working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of Office products. 
  • Be willing to travel to other local branches on an as needed basis and therefore must have a valid driver’s license and own mode of transportation.          
  • Be willing to be assigned to other local branches as needed.

Base Pay

USD $21.63/Hr.
